Dubai-based designer Roham Shamekh is set to present his latest collection, “Pharrell’s Echoes,” at the upcoming Design Miami, which runs from December 4th to 8th at the Miami Beach Convention Center. This series of sculptural pieces draws inspiration from the timeless theme of the last judgment, reimagined through a modern lens. Using Pharrell Williams as a metaphor, Roham examines how contemporary creativity can become a force for cultural and social transformation.

“Pharrell’s Echoes” does more than just pay tribute to the artist; it uses Pharrell’s multidisciplinary influence as a way to explore broader themes of judgment, redemption, and humanism. Pharrell embodies the spirit of today’s creative disruptors, combining art, music, and fashion to challenge societal norms. Roham channels this energy into his collection, reflecting on how creativity has the power to redefine cultural narratives and inspire social change. Much like hip-hop culture itself, the collection is about more than just aesthetics—it’s a critique, a celebration, and a call to rethink the boundaries of art and society.

At the center of the collection are sculptural chairs crafted from white resin, designed in flowing, organic forms. The backrests are embossed with the contours of a male torso, reminiscent of classical sculptures that emphasize the human form. The design strikes a balance between classical inspiration and modern execution, blending familiar artistic motifs with innovative materials.

Another standout in the collection is the bronze iteration of the same sculptural chair, finished in silver. This singular chair transforms the original design into a sculptural art piece, enhancing its presence as both an object of utility and artistic contemplation. The metallic finish adds a sense of permanence and gravitas, contrasting with the more fluid lines of the resin version, and giving the work a layered depth that invites viewers to see it from multiple perspectives.

Pharrell’s influence on the collection goes beyond aesthetics, as Roham delves into themes of identity, resilience, and interdisciplinary expression. Debuting at Design Miami Curio booth C08, the collection reinterprets the idea of the last judgment through a modern, transformative lens. With “Pharrell’s Echoes,” Roham Shamekh channels the spirit of renewal and reinvention, inviting viewers to reflect on the power of art to drive cultural change.
