- This Electrode’s new Steel-type Mega form intrigues Pokemon fans.
A Pokemon fan artist gave the electric critter called Electrode a new Mega Evolution form, and designed the power-up around an equally powerful tool: the Master Ball. The Pokemon fan artist posted their Mega Electrode concept on social media and shared some details about this spherical powerhouse concept.
Known as the Bomb Ball, among other nicknames, Electrode first appeared in Pokemon Red and Blue. As one of the first Electric-type Pokemon, Electrode evolves from Voltorb at level 30. In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Voltorb and Electrode had Hisuian regional variants, and a Leaf Stone was required for evolution instead of levels. With the markings of an upside-down Poke Ball, Electrode can hide in plain sight from both enemies and novice Pokemon trainers alike. The spherical Pokemon is also known for its equally quick speed and temperament, as it can Self-Destruct at will and cause considerable damage to anything in its path.

Epic Moment from Pokemon Movie Recreated in Pokemon GO
A Pokemon GO player uses the popular mobile game’s AR features to recreate a climatic moment from the original Pokemon theatrical film.
Though Electrode is one of the most iconic Electric Pokemon for its simplistic design, a Pokemon trainer gave it a boost with their handiwork. A Reddit user named Matratzfratz posted their artwork of Mega Electrode on the r/pokemon subreddit. In their latest work, Matratzfratz gave the Sphere Pokemon a Mega form that looked like the iconic Master Ball, a rare Poke Ball that can catch anything without fail. As a result, Electrode gained the Steel type to complement its Electric power, and its body was changed to purple and gray to match the Master Ball’s color scheme. Electrode’s eyes were changed to white with dark pupils, and its eyebrows and bottom half were clad in metal. Two angry heads then popped up on each side of Mega Electrode’s top half, to match the red bumps of the Master Ball itself. No statistics, moves, or abilities were listed for the Mega Electrode.
Pokemon Fan Makes Mega Electrode Art Based on a Master Ball
Known for their previous work on turning the Digimon mascot Agumon into a Pokemon, Matratzfratz said that the red parts of Mega Electrode were based on both the Master Ball and the Common Surinam toad. The aquatic frog that inspired Mega Electrode’s design bears its young on its back from the holes that emerge in its skin, which in turn inspired the water Pokemon Seismitoad in Pokemon Black and White.
Pokemon fans complimented Matratzfratz for their creativity in making the Mega Electrode look like a Master Ball. With Mega Evolutions confirmed for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, only time will tell if Electrode will get an official Mega form.
