Marco Tomasetta, Montblanc’s artistic director, is the creative force behind the German maison’s leather goods evolution. Taking inspiration from the Montblanc archive, three future-facing collections are infused with the brand’s design heritage, while feeling utterly contemporary. The latest Meisterstück, Sartorial, and Extreme 3.0 collections span meticulously crafted leather bags, briefcases, sling bags, pouches, and more, incorporating new shapes and functionality, luxurious new leathers, and an enhanced emblem and detailing.
Meisterstück collection
The Meisterstück collection takes inspiration from Montblanc’s iconic eponymous writing instrument. ‘By mirroring some of the Meisterstück’s distinguishing features – the nib, the colour and shine of the pen’s precious resin and their smooth, sensual touch – we have created pieces that truly stand out,’ explains Tomasetta. ‘Not simply because of their elevated design, but because they clearly showcase Montblanc’s DNA.’

In the collection’s latest iteration, Tomasetta and his team have utilised a new leather that achieves a softer touch and a deeper tone of black, with a distinctive brilliant finish. To preserve the elegance of the bags’ lines without compromising on functionality, organisation and storage compartments are all tucked away discreetly inside. Many of the design details, including the nib-shaped zip-pulls in vintage palladium, have been created by Montblanc’s team of in-house designers, the elaborate construction of bags and small accessories showcasing the house’s contemporary craftsmanship.

The shape of the Montblanc fountain pen nib has been applied to the leather detailing itself, and around the handle and strap fittings attached to the bags. Meanwhile, the Montblanc emblem is revisited, with significantly larger interpretations featuring on bags.

Sartorial collection
The redesigned Montblanc Sartorial collection, the maison’s signature business offering, features bags and accessories in new colours and softer leathers with deep two-tone effects. The introduction of a modular system allows small pieces to be attached to larger bags, improving functionality, and creating new styling options and customisation possibilities.

The design codes for the Sartorial collection nod to the beauty and experience of handwriting. Ink bottles from the Montblanc archive have inspired the triangular design of the handles, while the construction of the sides of the bags evokes the opening of an envelope with two overlapping pieces of leather.

‘While this collection has a timeless and classic quality with modern shapes that can be used every day, there is no reason why the pieces shouldn’t be fun and creative,’ says Tomasetta. ‘That’s where the idea for the modular feature came from – a way to express individual style while finding new functionality for each piece. We’ve given personality and life to a more modern all-black bag, so that it can be changed every season or to create a different look.’

Extreme 3.0 collection
The Montblanc Extreme collection was conceived to withstand the demands of everyday travel by pushing the boundaries of technical innovation. New heights of durability and performance are achieved by balancing functionality with sleek and contemporary style.

The result is a bold, modern design that nods to Montblanc’s tradition of disruptive designs, and connects to the lifestyles of a new generation of customers.’

The pieces are available in signature Montblanc Black and an eye-catching British Green, paired with metal fittings in black. The Montblanc emblem has been enlarged for the collection in two different sizes – for bags and accessories. Meanwhile, three bags and a belt feature an original closure inspired by the climbing world, with a bold, black finish; the ‘M Lock 4810’ closure’s special mechanism is designed for a secure close, but an equally easy opening function.
Across the Montblanc Extreme 3.0 collection, bags of different shapes, sizes and functions are designed to fit a work-and-play lifestyle.
